Why does representation matter?

In Episode 3 of BLACK N’ BLUE, we explore the importance of seeing diverse beauty reflected in advertisements, movies, magazines, and media. Representation helps young people see themselves in the world around them, celebrate their natural features, and build confidence in who they are.

This episode highlights how positive representation can influence self-esteem and create a sense of belonging, especially for Black youth. The conversation also explores the importance of self-love and embracing your unique beauty, recognizing that when young children see others confidently loving themselves, they are encouraged to do the same.
